The Hierarchy tab displays your survey report data across your organizational hierarchy and includes options for filtering and displaying the data. You can also use this tab to select which teams to view on the Comparison tab.

Hierarchy tab
The left side of the tab displays the Data Filters area, featuring options for configuring which data to view.

Data Filters area
This area consists of the following options:
Project
Use this drop-down list to select which survey report data to view.
Report Type
Select whether you want to view direct or rollup data.
Reporting Group
View all survey data or use this drop-down list to view data for a specific reporting group. For example, if the survey data include multiple reporting groups that correspond to your organization’s various locations, you can view a particular location’s data by selecting its reporting group.
Index
If the survey included multiple indexes, use this drop-down list to select which index data to view.
Question
View all data that comprise the index you selected, or use this drop-down list to select specific question data to view. For example, if you are viewing data for the Q12 Mean index, you can use this option to view reporting data for each Q¹² item.
Measure
Use this drop-down list to select one of the following data options to view:
Engagement Mean
The average response, on a 5-point scale, across all Q¹² items. This is available only when viewing all question data of the Q12 Mean index.
Current Mean
The average response for the current survey administration, showing overall satisfaction or agreement among respondents.
Current Top Box
The percentage of highest-rated responses for the current survey administration, showing the proportion of strongest agreement among respondents.
Database
The primary comparison database for the survey report. This is the database the tool uses for percentile rank values.
To change the values the tool uses to determine the color of each section or node of the diagram, click the settings button (
) to the right of the Measure option.

Heatmap Options window
In the Heatmap Options window, use the sliders to adjust the threshold values of each color. To use the percentile rank values in the survey report’s primary comparison database, click Reset.
Visualization Diagrams
Use the buttons on the upper-right corner of the tab to choose different visualization diagrams: Sunburst, Dendrogram or Radial. When viewing a diagram, use the following options to interact with it:
- Use your mouse wheel or the zoom in (+) and zoom out (-) buttons to increase or decrease the size of the diagram.
- Click and drag to move the diagram.
- Position your mouse pointer over a section or node of the diagram to view the name of the team, the number of survey responses (Total N) and the measurement value (Engagement Mean, Current Mean or Current Top Box).
- Click a node of the dendrogram or radial diagrams to expand or collapse the node.
-
Double click a section or node to add a team to or remove a team from the list of comparison teams.
Note: A team's section or node appears purple (
) when you add it to the list of comparison teams.
The color of each section or node of a diagram corresponds to the measurement value's percentile rank in the survey report's primary comparison database:
|
|
The value is greater than or equal to the 90ᵗʰ percentile. |
|
|
The value is within the 75ᵗʰ to 89ᵗʰ percentile. |
|
|
The value is within the 50ᵗʰ to 74ᵗʰ percentile. |
|
|
The value is within the 25ᵗʰ to 49ᵗʰ percentile. |
|
|
The value is less than the 25ᵗʰ percentile. |
|
|
The value can't be compared or there is no comparison database. |
Sunburst Diagram
This diagram displays the hierarchical structure of the organization as a series of rings. Each ring represents a level of the organization (radiating outward from the inner-most ring as the highest level of the organization), and each section of a ring represents a team.

Dendrogram Diagram
This diagram displays the organization's hierarchical structure as a rooted tree with a series of branching nodes. Each horizontal plane of nodes represents a level of the organization (extending downward from the top-most node as the highest level of the organization), and each node represents a team.

Radial Diagram
This diagram displays the organization's hierarchical structure as an unrooted tree with a series of branching nodes. Each group of nodes represents a level of the organization (radiating outward from the center node as the highest level of the organization), and each node represents a team.
