Text Analytics: Personal Information

Control the visibility of personally identifiable information in survey comments by reviewing detected PII and choosing which responses appear in reports.

Use this section of the Advanced Configuration Tool to determine the visibility of personally identifiable information (PII) for a survey question's comments. Gallup uses machine learning to detect responses that may contain PII and lets you decide which responses should not appear on the survey's reports.

  1. Select a survey report from the Report drop-down list, then select Manage PII in verbatim responses.
  2. Select an open-ended question from the Verbatim Question drop-down list. The page will list all comments for the survey's selected question in which Gallup has detected potential PII, shown in curly braces ({}).

  3. Use the options in the Display column to show or hide responses on the survey's reports. You can also select the checkboxes of multiple responses and use the Bulk Actions drop-down list to set all selected responses as shown or hidden.
  4. Click Save Changes.

To download a CSV file of the data, click Export Responses on the right side of the page.
