What should I do if I am interrupted or experience technical issues while taking the CliftonStrengths assessment?

If you are interrupted or lose connection while taking the CliftonStrengths assessment, you do not need to start over. The system saves your progress and pauses the assessment when you stop responding.

What happens if you stop answering questions

The assessment will automatically pause if:

  • You lose your internet connection

  • You close your browser or tab

  • Your device shuts down or goes to sleep

  • You do not answer a question before the timer expires

When any of these happen, the assessment stops at the last unanswered question. Your completed responses up to that point are saved.

How to resume your assessment

To continue your assessment after an interruption, you must sign back in to the same Gallup Access account where you redeemed your access code or email invitation.

  1. Go to the Gallup Access Sign In page.

  2. Enter the credentials for the account where you started the assessment.

  3. After you sign in, look for the option to Resume your CliftonStrengths assessment on your home page and select it.

This will take you back to the point where the assessment paused so you can continue.

Don’t redeem your code again or reuse the email link

If you try to:

  • Redeem your access code a second time, or

  • Click the Get Started link in your email invitation again

you will see an error message that the code has already been used.

This is expected behavior. It means:

  • You successfully redeemed the code the first time.

  • You now only need to sign in to your Gallup Access account and select Resume, not redeem the code again.

Do missed questions affect my results?

While it is best to complete the assessment in one sitting (about 30–40 minutes), missing a few questions will not affect your results in a meaningful way.

If you are interrupted, simply sign back in to your existing Gallup Access account and select Resume to finish the assessment.
