This article explains what the CliftonStrengths® assessment is and what to expect when taking it.
The CliftonStrengths assessment is Gallup’s online talent assessment that helps individuals discover and describe their unique patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior — their talents.
Grounded in decades of Gallup research on the science of strengths, the assessment measures the presence of 34 research-validated talent themes that reflect the most common ways people naturally think, feel, and act to achieve success.
How the Assessment Works
During the assessment, you’ll see a series of paired statements — for example, “I read instructions carefully” and “I like to jump right into things.” Each pair represents opposing self-descriptions placed at opposite ends of a continuum. For each pair, choose the statement that best describes you and indicate how strongly you identify with it.
You’ll have 20 seconds to respond to each item before the assessment automatically moves to the next one. Your responses help identify your most dominant talents and how you naturally approach work and life.
Completing the Assessment
The assessment takes about 30 minutes to complete and can be taken securely online through Gallup Access.
When you finish, you’ll receive personalized results that describe your top talent themes — your CliftonStrengths — along with insights and strategies for developing them into strengths you can apply every day.
