Why do I see a message indicating my survey has already been taken?

If you see a message that says “survey has already been completed using this URL”, it means that the survey invitation link you’re using has already been used.

Each Gallup survey invitation link is unique to an individual and can only be used once. If you’re seeing this message but you haven’t taken the survey, one of the following may have happened:

  • You may have forwarded your invitation to someone else who used it to take the survey.

  • You may have received the invitation from someone else, and they had already used the link.

  • You may have previewed the survey questions and unintentionally submitted your responses.

What you should try first

Make sure you are using your own survey invitation link — the one Gallup or your organization sent directly to you.

  1. Go back to the original survey invitation email that was sent to your email address.

  2. Click the survey link in that email (and do not use any links that were forwarded to you or shared with you by someone else).

  3. Try to access the survey again.

If you still can’t access your survey

If you still cannot get into your survey and need to request a reset and a new survey link, please contact Gallup Support.

Note: Gallup Support can only assist the individual respondent directly. To protect employee confidentiality, we cannot reset a survey on behalf of someone else.
